The Working Group is also mandated to monitor the activities of private military and security companies and their effects on human rights. 3. (...) In connection with the Working Group’s mandate, the Human Rights Council emphasized its utmost concern, in its resolution 33/4, about the activities of private military and security companies operating in privatized prisons and immigration detention facilities and the impact of those activities on human rights.
