NOTE VERBALE DATED 26 APRIL 2018 FROM THE PERMANENT MISSION OF TURKEY TO THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA ADDRESSED TO THE OFFICE OF THE UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
While the report does in fact touch upon the fear of the Greek Cypriot side to cooperate with Turkish Cypriot authorities so as not to imply “recognition of the TRNC”, it fails to reflect that the real reason leading to human rights violations in this case was the determination of the Greek Cypriot side to put political considerations ahead of humanitarian ones. In this particular case, cooperation between the two sides on the island, namely the A/HRC/37/G/8 GE.18-07442 5 Turkish Cypriot side and the Greek Cypriot side, could have enabled a resolution to the case, but instead, the Greek Cypriot side opted to file its claims directly to Turkey, which is neither the relevant nor the competent authority on the matter. (...) While we welcome the fact that this section of the report mentions the obstacles faced by many Turkish Cypriots in crossing to the South, we regret that the report did not mention issues faced by third party nationals who arrive in Cyprus at Greek Cypriot ports, visit Southern Cyprus but also wish to cross to and stay in hotels in the North. A/HRC/37/G/8 6 GE.18-07442 A memorandum issued by the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as a circular of the Department of Migration, issued a strong warning to foreign citizens who wish to travel to the TRNC if they wish to stay at hotels in the North that either the buildings, or the land they were built on, were previously owned by Greek Cypriots, but failed to make this information known to foreign embassies and travel agencies.

REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT EXPERT ON THE ENJOYMENT OF ALL HUMAN RIGHTS BY OLDER PERSONS ON HER MISSION TO SINGAPORE :NOTE / BY THE SECRETARIAT
Under the Scheme, the Housing and Development Board buys back the tail-end portion of the lease so that the older persons can continue to stay in their flat for 15-35 years. The proceeds can be used to buy an annuity, which can in turn provide the older person a constant stream of income for life. (...) Under the Mental Capacity Act, individuals who think they might lose capacity to make their own decisions in the future have the possibility to plan ahead by executing a lasting power of attorney with a view to appointing a proxy decision maker to take care of their personal welfare and financial matters. (...) A number of community programmes are being introduced to enable older persons to stay active and engaged after retirement. Older persons can, for instance, contribute to community organizations and join senior citizen groups within housing estates, which run regular activities to help them keep physically well and socially active.

LETTER DATED 89/08/29 FROM THE CHARGE D'AFFAIRES A.I. OF THE PERMANENT MISSION OF NICARAGUA TO THE UNITED NATIONS ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
Their plan called for Washington to undermine Nic aragua's fragile economy—still recovering from Somoza's destructive efforts to stay in power— by ending U. S. assistance, blocking multilateral bank loans and pressuring other nations to iso late the Sandinistas. (...) As a former NSC official has acknowledged, "We did help effect (Treasury Department) interventions in the IDE and World Bank to not go ahead and lend to Nicaragua." The United States holds veto power over low-interest "concessionary^ loans at the IDB and World Bank and easily blocked Sandinista access to smaller grants from these insitutitions.
