Each mechanism requires a different level of coordination and collaboration by United Nations entities, Member States, civil society and other partners in order to ensure the successful implementation of a victims’ programme. Each funding mechanism will have an impact on how expeditiously the programme can be implemented and how the programme will not only interact with key partners and stakeholders but also greatly impact and benefit victims throughout the world.

Addressing commitment 3, on full employment, the Committee invited the International Labour Organization (ILO) and other relevant organizations of the United Nations system, such as the World Bank, to present analyses on a number of issues including: the scope for and obstacles to increasing the employment potential of infrastructure development in developing countries; stimulation of employment in the social sector through private investment; special employment issues faced by particular groups; policy measures at the regional and international levels to stimulate employment; successful national and regional initiatives and experiences in the creation of employment and their applicability elsewhere; and the role of vocational education, training and retraining.

  Harnessing longevity in the future of work | DISD

Preliminary findings of a joint initiative of AARP, OECD and the World Economic Forum to identify and share multigenerational and inclusive workforce practices suggest that employers with age inclusive workforces are more resilient and better positioned to be more successful in a competitive environment. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, entrepreneurs aged between 50 and 80 years old make up a sizeable portion of all entrepreneurs, and tend to start businesses at a rate that is comparable to or higher than younger entrepreneurs (aged between 18 and 29 years old). (...) Heterogeneity among older persons is observed in needs, capacities, preferences and health and economic status, among other factors, suggesting that a successful response to population ageing aimed at benefiting from the longevity revolution needs to be multifaceted.
