As a result, the GEFCEO endorsed in June 2014 a $2 million project proposal entitled ‘Promoting Accelerated Transfer and Scaled-up Deployment of Mitigation Technologies through the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN)’ to be implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development 2 All dollar amounts are in United States dollars. (...) The transfer of low-carbon and climate-resilient technologies has been a key cross-cutting theme for the GEF since its establishment, and it continues to support technology transfer activities. (...) For CCA, this report presents achievements corresponding to the strategic objectives of: (i) reducing vulnerability to the adverse impacts of climate change; (ii) increasing adaptive capacity to respond to the impacts of climate change; and (iii) promoting the transfer and adoption of climate adaptation technologies. These adaptation projects and activities were financed from the LDCF and the SCCF.

In GEF-7, SGP’s climate mitigation strategy aims to demonstrate and scale up low carbon, viable technologies and approaches in partnership with private sector and governments that improve community energy access and are in alignment with larger frameworks such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

Regional needs assessments have indicated that ESCWA should play a policy coordination role in the field of space and satellite technologies. ESCWA also intends to act as a strategic liaison between COPUOS, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and regional stakeholders. (...) ESCWA attended to study issues related to the peaceful use of space and satellite technologies so as to determine the priorities of the Arab region; to identify global and Arab experts and entities working in this field; and to lobby for the first ESCWA expert group meeting on space and satellite technologies. (...) ESCWA is in the process of preparing its first regional expert group meeting on space and satellite technologies for development in the Arab region, which is expected to take place in 2016.
