It discussed possible ways of further strengthening international collaboration in the field of Digital Transformation through ICT-Centric Innovation. This session was an opportunity for launching two country Digital Innovation Profiles (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia), one  Country Review (Moldova), a publication on Innovation Practices in Europe and the ITU report “Bridging the Digital Innovation Divide: A Toolkit for Strengthening ICT Centric Innovation Ecosystems” (now available in all 6 UN languages).   16:30 – 18:15 Session 4: Financing Mechanisms for Accelerating Digital Transformation ( Live Webcast ) This session focused on a key requirement for building vibrant ICT Ecosystems - funding.

This report examines the dynamics of the ICT-centric innovation ecosystem in Moldova, and makes recommendations to strengthen integration of ICT innovation in the national development agenda, and leverage the economic and social opportunities provided by innovative technologies. (...) Additionally, the following toolkit is now available in all six official United Nations languages: Bridging the digital innovation divide: A toolkit for strengthening ICT-centric ecosystems . The toolkit features an analysis of national ICT-centric innovation ecosystems and helps connect and share knowledge and experiences between stakeholders from different ecosystems. (...) "We continue to help ITU members to accelerate digital transformation through vibrant ICT-centric innovation ecosystems that support entrepreneurship and innovation, while encouraging the empowerment of grassroots stakeholders and creating new opportunities for them in the ICT sector," said Brahima Sanou, Director of the ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau.

These numbers highlight the need to urgently update countries' ICT polices to incorporate enablers of innovation and entrepreneurship in order to reach ITU membership's Connect 2030 goal of all countries having policies/strategies fostering telecommunication/ICT-centric innovation.      ITU innovation reviews give an accurate diagnosis of ecosystems' health and develop strategies to inform national policies. The key recommendations from the reviews are used to shape a vibrant ICT-centric innovation environment.  Through a comparable analysis framework and a whole-ecosystem approach, countries working with ITU will develop a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities in their ecosystems; as well formulate suitable development strategies and roadmaps to: ​​drive innovation across secto​rs, create more job opportunities, efficiently support the growth of small and medium enterprises, and an economic restructuring to embrace an inclusive and digital society.
