VISIT TO IRAQ : REPORT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS
It is regrettable, however, that local integration is rejected by authorities in hosting areas, who argue that this would change their demographics. (...) These allegations are often based on perceived tribal or family ties to an alleged ISIL member, or even on grounds of their place of origin. (...) Because of the fear of sexual and gender-based violence in camps and areas hosting internally displaced persons, women and girls feel insecure and may avoid going to markets, schools, service delivery points or crossing checkpoints, compounding their marginalization, economic hardship and consequent vulnerability. 52.
