Trust in the social service workforce is low and discriminatory attitudes and behaviours have been noted amongst social service and allied workforces in the region17.
(...) This workforce in the region often sits in a unified social protection system together with the social service workforce. (...) This indicator provides information on progress in creating a national plan for social service workforce strengthening that is comprehensive in looking at the whole workforce and its inter-sectoral linkages with allied workforces.

This paper focuses on three overarching aspects essential to midwifery workforce management: managing entry to the workforce, managing stay in the workforce, and managing exit from the workforce. Various factors influence midwifery recruitment (i.e. entry to the workforce), retention (i.e. staying in the workforce), and motivation to prevent exit from the midwifery workforce.
